How often can you say you’ve seen a beautiful, funky, energetic and a down to earth lady who sings and plays the drums at the same time? And is a qualified musician in jazz and contemporary music to boot!
Marlé began her tertiary studies in music at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) where she studied extensively and completed her National Diploma in 2007. In addition to her music studies, she did a drum course with Andre Luke and obtained her Grade 8 in piano through UNISA. In 2003 she was part of the Performer Theatre’s show “Blondes” and in 2004“Briljant Production”; “Born in the RSA”, as keyboard player, backing vocalist as well as backup dancer.
She’s also performed at various functions in 2004 together with the SAJE(South African Jazz Ensemble) - and in 2006 helped create an all female group namely “La Diva”, which is Karmi Marais on piano and backing vocals, Nelmarie Naude on vocals and Marlé on drums and backing vocals. This is her main project at the moment, which has gone from strength to strength alongside the “High Definition Show Band”.
Besides performing, Marlé has been teaching music at St. Mary’s DSGPretoria since 2005 - and with music as her love and passion, she thoroughly enjoys giving back to the community.
